A wild fight or brawl. The name refers to the "Donnybrook Fair," an event held annually until 1855 in Donnybrook, Ireland, and known for the rowdy fights that sometimes occurred there. I knew there had been a donnybrook at the bar when my friends came home bruised and bloodied.
