walk across (something or some place)
To cross or traverse something or some place from one side to another on foot. I had no money for a taxi, so I had to walk across town to get home. People from the village have to walk across this blistering desert every day to reach the only source of water for miles around. I'm spending three weeks this summer walking across Southern France.
