1. To die. I didn't want to turn my toes up before I was 50, so I set about really improving my diet and getting more exercise. The man keeled over and turned his toes up right there on the spot.
2. To fail; to go out of business. Another local store has turned their toes up, the latest victim of the giant retailer that moved into town.
3. To give up completely; to stop putting in the effort necessary to compete or succeed. Despite a strong showing in the first half, the team seemed to just turn their toes up after falling a little bit behind.
