1. A type of knot, consisting of two intertwined overhand knots made in parallel lengths of string. Grandpa is always trying to teach me these weird knots he learned back in the day. The true lover's knot, the half hitch—when am I ever going to use this stuff in real life? You'll need to use a true lover's knot to secure the two lines together on the boat.
2. A knot, often of ribbon, used to symbolize the connection shared by two lovers. Also known as "lover's knot" and "love knot." I didn't want a diamond engagement ring. Instead, this simple band with a true lover's knot is a perfect reminder of our devotion to each other.
