the hang of (something)

A general understanding of or familiarity with to do or operate something. Typically used after the verbs "have" or "get." I know it's really tricky to do now, but once you get the hang of it, it will start to feel second nature. I think I have the hang of this computer now. Thanks for your help!

the knowledge or knack of doing something correctly. (*Typically: get ~ have ~ teach someone ∼.) As soon as I get the hang of this computer, I'll be able to work faster. Now that l have the hang of starting the car in cold weather, I won't have to get up so early.
