An intense yearning to be or do something. The call of motherhood was never too strong for me—I always preferred to focus on my career, rather than settle down with a family. If you hear the call of the wild this summer and decide to go camping or hiking, make sure you have the right kind of gear. Mother nature can be unforgiving if you come unprepared.
