To strongly disagree with, take offense at, or become angered by something. Hey, I take umbrage at the idea that I didn't put my full effort into this project. I think Lady Westerly took umbrage at your remarks, sir. The senator made it clear that he takes umbrage at the Supreme Court's decision.
