stay under (something)

1. To remain hidden, blanketed, or protected beneath some physical covering. Make sure you stay under these fire-retardant blankets until we've managed to escape the burning area. I was so tired that I just wanted to stay under the covers all day long.
2. To remain concealed or protected by some state or condition. We'll stay under the darkness of night while we make our escape. This money will stay under the protection of her legal guardians she reaches the age of majority.
