show the color of (one's) money
To display or prove one's ability to pay for something. A noun or pronoun can be used between "show" and "the" to specify the person or group whom one is showing. Sure, I can do that for him—but he'll have to show me the color of his money first. They offer a 30-day trial, so you can try out the service without even showing the color of your money.
