To dispatch someone or something to an advanced position or location, as to do or prepare something. A noun or pronoun can be used between "send" and "ahead." I sent my assistant ahead to the hotel to make us a reservation for lunch. I took the liberty of sending ahead your luggage, ma'am. It should be waiting for you upon your arrival.
