scoot over

1. To move slightly to the side, especially while seated. Hey, scoot over so I can fit another chair at the table. Would you mind scooting over? I'd like to sit here too.
2. To move or cause to move slightly to the side someone or something that is on the ground. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "scoot" and "over." Help me scoot this table over so everyone will be able to fit in the kitchen. Just scoot the kids over a little bit so that you have room to sit down here.
