run like the devil from (someone or something)

1. To use all of one's power or effort to escape someone or something on foot. I ran like the devil from the barking dog.

2. To escape from a person or situation as fast as one can. I told her to run like the devil from that new boyfriend of hers. I could see the start of a very toxic relationship straightaway.
