rub (one's) nose in the dirt

To humiliate one, especially by reminding one of a mistake or failure. One of my co-workers is always eager to rub my nose in the dirt any time she finds out I made a mistake. Yes, my business went under. No need to rub my nose in the dirt about it, Dad.
