1. Literally, to satisfy a craving for a particular beverage. I know I should be making healthier choices, but I have got to quench my thirst for a soda!
2. By extension, to satisfy one's need or desire for something. That movie's hilarious—it'll definitely quench your thirst for a comedy. Having a boyfriend for six months quenched my thirst for a relationship. I'm ready to be single for a while! Has the new encyclopedia set quenched your thirst for knowledge?
