slang A particularly unsavory, untrustworthy, and unfriendly person. I was being trained at the time by the warden of the prison, a miserable old polecat named Sebastian Mayhew. A: "Maybe Bill could help pay." B: "That slippery little polecat would rather die a thousand deaths than part with his drinking money."
