poke along

To move or progress forward at a slow, dawdling pace. We weren't in a rush to get back to camp, so we poked along and admired the beauty of the mountains. If we keep poking along like this, we'll never get the project finished in time for the holidays. The cars poked along in the rush-hour traffic.

to move along slowly; to lag or tarry. Get moving. Stop poking along. I was just poking along, taking my time, not paying attention to what was going on around me.
