be not above (doing something)

To not have principles or morals that stop one from doing something that is unethical, unpleasant, or considered shameful or embarrassing. I'll admit that I'm not above name-calling when I get into debates with other people online. He's a shady dealer who's not above ripping off his customers if he thinks he can get away with it. I'm not above working as a janitor. Work is work.

not be above doing something

If someone is not above doing something, they are prepared to do it, even if it is something usually done by someone of a lower status, or even if it is wrong. I'm not above doing my own cleaning. He is not above telling a few white lies.
