1. Literally, to attempt to seize or grasp someone or something. The man made a grab at me as I walked by, so I sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. I tried making a grab for the paper in her hand, but she snatched it away from me effortlessly.
2. To attempt to achieve or obtain something. The team is making a grab at the championship title for the first time in nearly 25 years. The extremist group has made a grab at power in the country's parliament.
