1. The unique character of a particular place or geographic area, as created by its customs, accent, style of dress, etc. You have to visit Philadelphia's Italian Market to get a true taste of the local color. The author has been celebrated for capturing the local color of the American South.
2. In art, the color of an object in normal light with no modifications or effects. Is this the local color of the teacups, or did you paint them under studio lights?
