internut

internut

slang Someone who spends a lot of time online. A pun on "Internet" and "nut," which can be used as a term for someone who is overly or obsessively interested in or devoted to something. The kids were total internuts back when we first got America Online—it took longer for my wife and I to embrace it. I bet most late '90s tweens were internuts like me. It was just incredible to have so much information right at your fingertips all of a sudden! My siblings and I were total internuts back when our one and only phone line was required for Internet use. As you might imagine, there were lots of fights with Mom and Dad over that!
