intercede with (someone or something)

To approach or confront someone or something in favor or on behalf of someone or something else. Once the bullying situation in my little brother's class escalated, I had to intercede with his teacher. It always fell to me to intercede with my dad when he would butt heads with my younger brother. You need to intercede with your children's doctors when they're too young to advocate for themselves.
