in the Land of Nod

in the Land of Nod

Asleep. The phrase likely alludes to how one's head nods when one is falling asleep. I would have told you this last night, but you were already in the Land of Nod, and I didn't want to wake you. There's usually quite a long gap between when I climb into bed and when I'm finally in the Land of Nod at night. I've always got too much going on in my head. The kids are still in the Land of Nod? Wow, does that mean we get to sleep in too?
