1. Of an animal, experiencing the physiological changes that accompany estivation and hibernation. It's wintertime—many animals are in a torpor now. Bears are in a torpor now, sweetheart. We're not going to see any, don't worry. The groundhogs were in a torpor, but now that's it's spring, they're out and about again.
2. Very sluggish or lethargic. We went on a grueling 10-mile hike yesterday, and I've been in a torpor all day today as a result. After being up half the night with a sick toddler, I'm really in a torpor now. We were all in a torpor after we got home from an exhausting weekend at the amusement park.
