hulk out
1. To become enraged, especially in a physically aggressive or imposing manner. A reference to The Incredible Hulk, a comic book character known for becoming very large and destructive when made angry. The bouncer finally hulked out on the dude after he told him for the third time to get out of the bar. Tell him you're gonna call the cops—that should get him to hulk out and leave us alone. I don't care if the dude hulks out, just as long as he doesn't break anything or punch anyone!
2. To perform some feat of extreme physical strength. I'll never forget seeing a 70-year-old granny hulking out and lifting the whole rear end of a car that had pinned her grandson to the ground. A: "Yikes, did you hulk out and rip the basement door off its frame?" B: "Not exactly. These rusty hinges surely helped." Right, like I hulked out and moved that huge couch all on my own! No, I had the boys help me when they were here.
3. To become very muscular, especially due to weightlifting. I was tired of being teased for how skinny I was, so I decided to spend the entire summer hulking out before the next school year started. Considering how Paul's hulked out this past year, I'm starting to wonder if he's on steroids. I don't want to hulk out or anything, I'm just looking for a good strength training program.
