An expression used to interrupt someone mid-speech and indicate that one's attention is being or about to be diverted. Sorry, Janet, hold that thought—I'm getting a call on the other line. I know you're upset, but hold that thought—I'm right in the middle of something for the boss. Hey, hold that thought, someone's knocking on the door.
