To strike a particular part of someone's body. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for that pitch to hit you in the head! Oh man, his opponent just hit him right in the mouth! A: "Is that blood on the ice?" A: "Yes, unfortunately. Number 18's stick came up and hit Thompson in the nose."
