1. A pile of something. Who left this heap of dirty laundry in the middle of the hallway? You'll never find those files with this heap of junk on your desk! The kids always manage to leave a heap of toys on the playroom floor.
2. A lot of something. You'll be in a heap of trouble if Mom finds out that you snuck out of the house last night. We've had a heap of problems getting our product out to market. Boss, I've gotten a heap of complaints of a system outage today. Did IT update something?
