To be kind or polite enough to do something. I was late, but luckily Sean had the courtesy to save me a seat. You guys didn't have the courtesy to bring back a donut for me? Geez! Thank goodness Tanya had the courtesy to warn me about the boss's bad mood before I went in his office and got screamed at.
