have a way of (doing something)
To have a tendency to do or cause something, often unintentionally. A: "Well, Aunt Mary is upstairs crying already, and Uncle Abe is arguing with Grandpa." B: "The holidays just have a way of bringing out the worst in our family." Kristy just has a way of irking me, you know? You two could say the exact same thing, and I'd be fine with you and super annoyed with her. You'll see—kids have a way of restoring the magic to Christmas.
