A severe quarrel or disagreement, especially one that leads to a temporary or permanent end of a relationship. I haven't spoken to my brother for nearly three years because of a falling-out we had over our late father's estate. My fiancé and my best friend had a falling out, and, unfortunately, I found myself caught in the middle. Apparently, Gina and Dave had a falling out last week, and now they're not talking to each other at all.
