To have the freedom or the just or legal permission, privilege, or authority to do something. I think we sometimes take it for granted that we have the right to say whatever we want without fear of reprisal by the government. As her father, I have a right to spend time with my daughter! A: "Officer, I have a right to park here!" B: "No, you don't—didn't you read that sign over there?"
