1. To cut something off, often with clumsy strokes or stabs. A noun or pronoun can be used between "hack" and "off." 2. To irritate or annoy someone. A noun or pronoun can be used between "hack" and "off." He keeps undermining me in front of the boss, and it's really hacking me off. You don't want to hack off your userbase with unreliable customer support. I'm not surprised that intern got yelled at—she was late, and lateness really hacks off the boss.
