To move out of one's family home to live independently (as in a "flat" or apartment). Primarily heard in Australia, New Zealand. I'm an adult now, so it's time for me to go flatting. I would have gone flatting right after uni, but I didn't have a steady job then. Why would Ed go flatting? His mum still does all his laundry for him!
