give a/(one's) seal of approval

To give an official indication of one's endorsement, authorization, or approval (of someone or something). No, you can't start that construction project until the boss gives it his seal of approval. I'm ready to hire someone for the marketing position—after you give your seal of approval, that is. Personally, I like your idea, but we can't move forward until the board members give it their seal of approval.
