get lucky

get lucky

1. To experience sudden good fortune. Whew, I got lucky when the teacher didn't collect the homework assignment I'd forgotten to do. Gambling is the stupidest form of recreation in my opinion. You might get lucky now and then, but otherwise it's like throwing your money away! Boy, you got lucky Mom and Dad were stuck in traffic and not home to catch you sneaking in after curfew.
2. slang To have sex, especially with someone whom one has only just met. Hey, what happened with that gorgeous woman you met at the bar last night? Did you get lucky? A: "You went out with Jenny again, right? You get lucky yet?" B: "And why would I tell you?" Work has been stressing me out so much that I just want to have a few drinks, go home with some guy from the bar, and get lucky.
