1. To establish an association, typically work related, with something or some organization. Johnny's getting involved with a nonprofit health clinic during his summer vacation. I've gotten involved in campaigns for a number of political candidates over the years. I think you'd feel more fulfilled if you got involved in charitable work that was important to you. You love animals—why not volunteer at the local animal shelter?
2. To become embroiled in some event, situation, predicament, etc. I make it a point never to get involved in other people's personal affairs. Your stupid schemes are going to cost me everything I have. I never should have gotten involved in this! A: "What do you think about this, Tom? Do you agree with me or with Adil?" B: "Guys, I really don't want to get involved in your argument."
