get in(to) a scrape

To get into a challenging or problematic situation; to get into a predicament. I've gotten into a bit of a scrape here—I need to be at a job interview in an hour, and my car won't start. It seems that Tom has gotten into another scrape that I need to go bail him out of! Somehow, my idiot brother managed to get into a scrape with mobsters.
