To become upset. Often used in the opposite to discourage one from getting upset. Don't get your bowels in an uproar—I'm sure we'll find a solution to this problem. Oh, Nancy's always got her bowels in an uproar about something or other. Ah, there's no need to get your bowels in an uproar—I'll have the car back by tomorrow morning!
