get back to (doing) (something)

To take up some activity or task again after some hiatus or interruption. I'm sorry I'm leaving so early, but I really need to get back to my essay. It feels good to get back to composing music after dabbling in other things for a few years. My daughter had a horrific crash last year, so I certainly hope she has no plans to get back to skiing!

To communicate with someone at a later time or date. Tell Jill that I'll get back to her about that business proposal after the weekend. I'll have to get back to you later, I'm just on my way out the door. John said he'll get back to you about buying the car once he's had a chance to talk to his wife.
