get an/the itch for (something)

To become interested in or desirous of something. I've got the itch for another road trip, but I'm not sure where to go. I know she says she's given up acting, but I'm sure she'll get an itch for it sooner than later. Every so often, I get the itch for a slower, quieter life in the country.
