get a laugh

To elicit laughter from someone or multiple people; to make someone or multiple people laugh. Once I got a laugh from the audience, I started to feel more relaxed about giving my presentation. I guarantee that line will get a laugh. I didn't mean to fall on my way offstage, but at least it got a laugh from the audience!
