To catch one in the act of a crime or misdeed, or to be able to prove unequivocally that one is guilty of such. Thanks to footage from the security cameras, the police were able to get the burglars dead to rights. The teacher came up behind us as I was copying Lewis's test, so she got us both dead to rights. Freeze, creep! I've got you dead to rights!
