To resolve or put into order or resolve one's own personal problems or business affairs. The president and his administration sorely need to get their house in order, or they may not see a second term in office. Jim should go about getting his own house in order before he starts criticizing how I live my life! My brother seriously needs to stop this messy behavior and get his own house in order. He's too old to be dating multiple women at the same time!
