get (all) wrought up

get (all) wrought up

To enter into a state of mental or emotional agitation; to become worked up. ("Wrought" is an archaic past tense and past participle of "work.") There's no point getting all wrought up over such a trivial issue. He got so wrought up at the time that I thought it best to leave him undisturbed. She's gotten all wrought up waiting for the doctor to call with the test results.
