get (all) spruced up

1. To become well dressed and neatly groomed. A: "Where's Marek?" B: "Upstairs getting spruced up for his date." She always gets all spruced up before heading out for a night on the town. Well, look at you! You got all spruced up, and the ladies are going to love it.
2. To make something neat, clean, and tidy. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "get" and "(all) spruced up." We need to get this place all spruced up before the open house later today. This place was a wreck the last time I was here. I can't believe you got it all spruced up so quickly! I have three kids, you know, so it'll take me all week to get the house spruced up for the party!
