1. slang Odd or wacky She's not feeling well—I bet that's why she's been acting so fruity today. You can't tell people you want to start a business selling bees as pets—they'll think you're fruity! I know some of my students think I'm totally fruity because of my weird methods.

2. offensive slang A derogatory term describing a male who is homosexual or otherwise non-heterosexual or behavior considered non-heterosexual or effeminate.

1. mod. silly-acting. Why are you acting so fruity? Not get enough sleep?

2. mod. in the style or manner of a male homosexual. (Usually objectionable.) The entertainers were sort of fruity, but other than that, the show was okay.
