1. Of a plant, to begin bearing or become full of fruit. The raspberry bushes in our back yard are finally fruiting up. It will take forever for this little tree to fruit up! I thought I bought a mature one with lemons! Yeah, my quince bush has fruited up, but what can I make with quince beside jam?
2. To add fruit to something. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "fruit" and "up." I've been fruiting up my smoothies with mango and pineapple recently. Hey, can you fruit up my frozen yogurt with some strawberries? I don't think you need to fruit up this chocolate cake, I think it's delicious as is!
3. To mix alcohol with a sweet drink, such as fruit juice or carbonated beverages. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "fruit" and "up." What's the point of drinking expensive cognac if you're just going to fruit it up? Blech, I can't drink straight alcohol—I've got to fruit it up with something! A whisky, barkeep, and don't fruit it up with anything!
