1. Literally, to compel or physically force one to swallow something. I hate how doctors try to force pills down your throat for even the tiniest of colds. The government has come under fire for ordering prison staff to force food down the hunger strikers' throats. The baby knows that medicine is disgusting, so good luck forcing it down her throat!

2. To force, compel, or attempt to make one accept, endure, consider, or agree with or to something. I hate going to my friend's house, because her husband is always forcing conservative rhetoric down my throat. Look, I'm just browsing around for a car—quit trying to force one down my throat! Would you stop trying to force your views down my throat? Can't we agree to disagree on this?
