To compel someone or an animal to continue or persist. The team was completely burnt out, but the manager forced them on so that the software would be ready to ship by the deadline. My dog tried to lie down and take a nap at the end of our block, but I forced her on so that I wouldn't have to carry her to our door. I knew my little brother was scared to go into the haunted house, but I forced him on anyway.

To force or impose something on one. Management is trying to force mandatory overtime on us. Why are you trying to force all of these old hats on me? You're cleaning out your attic, aren't you? Would you stop trying to force your old junk off on people? Nobody wants to be badgered at a yard sale.
