forage around for (something)

To hunt around for something; to look through something in search of something else, typically food. I foraged around in the pantry for a snack but still didn't find anything I wanted to eat. When you have teenage boys, they're always foraging around for something to eat. Our grocery bill is ridiculous! I wouldn't forage around for food outside—you don't know which plants are poisonous!
